About John Absher
Papa John’s interest in photography began about six years ago when a couple of my grandchildren started getting involved in soccer and basketball. Once I discovered the convenience of digital photography, I began experimenting with other subjects like birds, bees, flowers, and wildlife.
I was quickly “hooked” on photography and found myself reading every photography book or magazine I could get my hands on and I never seemed to tire of filling up memory cards with hundreds of images a day.
While bird photography is still my primary passion, I have expanded my interests to landscapes the past couple years. My wife and I have traveled to the upper peninsula of Michigan, the deserts of Nevada, the west coasts of both California and Oregon, the Columbia River Gorge near Portland, and Olympic Mountains National Park in Washington. These trips have provided many photo opportunities. I have particularly enjoyed experimenting with long exposure waterfall shots and the technique of High Dynamic Range photography.
Welcome to my photo gallery. I hope you like what you see and I welcome any comments about my work. I truly value constructive feedback or suggestions for improvements, either to particular images or to my technique in general.
